The Bombom collection, launched in 2020 by Roche Bobois, bears the signature of Portuguese contemporary artist Joana Vasconcelos.
The Bombom collection stands out with its bold and fluid forms, inspired by Vasconcelos’s textile sculptures. This collection reflects the exuberance, optimism, and fluidity of the artist’s artistic language.

Each piece evokes a “sweet” sensation with its large, soft, and organic lines. Its colorful and joyful palette is often highlighted with black lines, creating a look reminiscent of candies.

The backrests of the sofas are independent and movable. This feature offers the user the flexibility to create different seating arrangements according to their dynamics.

The seating surfaces of the indoor collection are produced as monoblock from pine plywood and supported with three-density (30-35-37) foam and PRS 250. The back cushions contain multi-density (18-21-25-75) foam, polyester fiber and non-slip bottom PRS 250, and these can be freely positioned on the sofa.

The covers are made of stretch fabric containing 65% cotton, 29% PL, 6% EA and are fully removable. The frame is made of solid beech wood, stained black. Outdoor versions are made with weather-resistant materials.
The collection is offered in four different sizes and shapes, such as Bombom 310 (5-seater), Bombom 277 (4-seater), Bombom 240 (3-seater), and Bombom 200 (2.5-seater).

The collection includes four different rugs. Three are inspired by Vasconcelos’s original artworks, while the fourth tufted model stands out with its Bonbon-like forms. “Isis, Perdição & Sinapse” rugs are 100% polyamide, tufted and printed. The “Bombom Tutti Frutti” rug is 100% wool and features colorful elements with a relief effect.

The cushion collection, offered in three different sizes and six different models, carries motifs from the artist’s original designs. “Sinapse & Perdição” cushions are velvet printed and reflect the artist’s colorful exuberance.

In 1960, the paths of the Roche and Chouchan families crossed in Paris. Jacques Roche’s furniture store, founded in the 1950s, met the Chouchan family’s “Au Beau Bois” furniture house at a design fair in Denmark. As a result of this meeting, the Roche Bobois brand was born. With its motto of creativity, savoir-faire (mastery), and originality, it spread the French “Art de Vivre” (Art of Living) worldwide by collaborating with many important names, including fashion giants like Jean Paul Gaultier and renowned architects.
Roche Bobois presents two new collections annually and embraces a sustainable luxury approach with its commitment to eco-design, reflecting both current trends and its dedication to sustainability.

Born in Paris in 1971, Joana Vasconcelos is an internationally acclaimed visual artist who intertwines art, fashion, and design. In her works, she generally uses traditional Portuguese handicrafts and textile techniques; she transforms elements often seen as “women’s work,” such as knitting, crochet, and textiles, into monumental sculptures.

She gained attention with her work “A Noiva” (The Bride) at the 2005 Venice Biennale and made history in 2012 as the first woman and youngest artist to open a solo exhibition at the Palace of Versailles. Her art explores themes such as consumer culture, identity, and women’s place in society with humor and irony.
Roche Bobois has close collaborations with the art world. Joana Vasconcelos’s acquaintance with the brand began in 2019 when she discovered the Mah Jong sofa, designed by Hans Hopfer, while looking for a lamp at the Roche Bobois store in Lisbon.

A few months later, the brand gave the artist free rein to reinterpret six iconic furniture creations with her own touch: two Ava armchairs, Lady B and Nuage armchairs, Sismic and Cute Cut coffee tables, and the iconic modular Mah Jong sofa.
