A Vision Crowned with Awards
The Rethinking the Future Global Architecture and Design Awards recognize projects that offer innovative solutions to contemporary global challenges. These awards aim to inspire young design professionals. The awards received by the Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center recognize the vision and success of the project.

The center’s design is based on three key principles:
Embrace the River: A design inspired by the curves and colors of the Cuyahoga River. It provides public access to the river while adding a new dimension to the waterfront.
Create a Local Icon: Brings new energy to downtown Cleveland and becomes a key part of the region’s vision.
Elevate the Athlete Experience: Helps athletes reach their peak by providing a holistic approach to education, treatment and recovery.

A Center for Technology and Innovation
The Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center embodies the latest advances in sports science. It aims to maximize athletes’ performance with state-of-the-art training equipment, state-of-the-art biomechanical testing systems and high-tech training tools with integrated data analytics.
Virtual reality and simulation technologies are used for skill development, while wearable sensors enable real-time performance tracking. The center’s public ski drop-off enhances the connection between sports and nature. These features transform the center from a typical training facility into a leading center for sports science and innovation. Encompassing more than 210,000 ft² (approximately 19,500 m²), the facility is planned to be one of the largest training facilities in the world and aims to be a global sports science and health center. The center will welcome elite and casual athletes from around the world to downtown Cleveland, further solidifying the city’s position as a global sports science and health center.
The center will provide personalized expertise in education, treatment, nutrition and recovery from Cleveland Clinic’s professional medical experts. The facility is expected to open in 2027.

The Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center will serve not only elite athletes, but also athletes at all levels of sports and the general public. The center will contribute significantly to the vision of making Cleveland a global sports and health center.
