Desa Potato Head and Max Lamb unveil the Wasted 001 recycled furniture collection.

The recycled furniture collection, an outcome of the collaboration between designer Max Lamb and Desa Potato Head, is crafted from plastic waste collected around the hotel complex. The project demonstrates how discarded materials can be transformed into a series of functional home accessories and new sustainable plastic materials, offering a circular approach to design.

Designer Max Lamb created a recycled furniture manifesto with the “Wasted 001” series, using waste materials from the hotel’s recycling processes.

Lamb used all types of waste from the hotel complex as the collection’s primary material. The project represents a waste-to-design approach that directly supports the hotel’s zero-waste goal.

The furniture, the collection’s centerpieces, was created from  waste collection from the hotel. Each chair is made from an average of 833 plastic bottle caps and various shampoo bottles.

The waste is first sorted by color and then granulated. The resulting granules are hand-pressed under heat into durable blocks with a marble-like pattern. This process sets a new standard for recycled plastic materials and product production.

The hotel’s old bed linens and towels were recycled. These textiles were re-sewn into bags and various home accessories for the collection. This approach offers an innovative solution for sustainable plastic alternatives.
