Designed by Joe Doucet, Airiva Wind Turbine Wall, unlike conventional wind turbines, transforms building facades into energy-generating surfaces with its modular design. This approach aims to make vertical wind energy systems a natural part of everyday architecture.
Developed as a scalable wind turbine facade solution, Airiva features independently rotating blades that adapt to changing wind conditions. The system can be integrated into building facades, rooftops, infrastructure, and public spaces, offering an alternative model for distributed urban energy generation while preserving architectural flexibility.

Unlike traditional wind turbines, its low rotation speed guarantees silence and safety. The system can be monitored and managed remotely, which makes it a truly smart wind energy system.

From a sustainability perspective, the system is groundbreaking, with a goal of using 80% recycled and post-consumer materials in its production. Joe Doucet‘s Airiva turbine wall is designed for city streets and buildings.

The Airiva wind turbine wall project is the work of three co-founders. Lead designer and inventor Joe Doucet’s design philosophy focuses on finding solutions to daily and societal challenges, believing that “design can play a larger role in innovation and problem-solving.” His portfolio includes successful projects like the Climate Responsive Paint that changes color with the seasons and a series of crash-proof 3D-printed concrete benches for Times Square.

Joining him as co-founder and CEO is Jeff Stone, a seasoned technology executive with over 25 years of experience building high-growth companies. Stone has extensive expertise in strategic planning and operations, having raised over $120 million in venture capital for his previous ventures. The company’s third co-founder, Richard Hinzel, has extensive experience in journalism, advertising, and branding across multiple continents.
This partnership combines Doucet’s innovative design vision with the business acumen of Stone and Hinzel, positioning Airiva not just as a design concept but also as a sustainable and forward-thinking commercial enterprise. Airiva Renewables, a private company dedicated to transforming the wind energy field, was officially established in 2021.
