Euroluce 2027 Examines How Light Influences Life and Architecture

SALONE DEL MOBILE.MILANO 2027

Euroluce 2027 returns in April with its biennial exhibition programme focused on decorative lighting, architectural lighting, technical systems and lighting research.

The exhibition layout underwent a significant change in 2023 with The City of Lights project. The connections between exhibition stands were reconsidered, and the cultural programme was planned alongside the commercial exhibition.

In 2025, Euroluce hosted 306 companies, including 75 first-time or returning exhibitors. International exhibitors accounted for 45 per cent of participants.

The Euroluce 2027 programme will expand with the second Euroluce International Lighting Forum, directed by Annalisa Rosso, Editorial and Cultural Director-Consultant of Salone del Mobile.

The Forum will continue the Light for Life. Light for Spaces programme.

The first part focuses on the relationship between lighting, health, quality of life, energy, the environment and natural light.

The second examines the role of lighting in architecture and interiors, addressing spatial perception, patterns of use, comfort and building functions.

Lighting designers and architects will join researchers and specialists from science, technology, cinema and the visual arts.

The 2027 event will take place in The Forest of Space, the arena designed by Sou Fujimoto for the 2025 edition. Rather than constructing a new structure, the organisers will reuse the existing space.

Speirs Major and Fisher Marantz Stone Among the Participants

London- and Tokyo-based Speirs Major Light Architecture is among the first participants announced for the Forum.

Known for its architectural and urban lighting projects, the practice’s work includes Westminster Abbey in London and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.

Speirs Major has won four Radiance Awards from the International Association of Lighting Designers and has worked on five projects that received the RIBA Stirling Prize.

In 2026, the practice received an IALD award for its lighting design of the At-Turaif project in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

Architectural Lighting at the Euroluce Forum

Founded in 1971, the practice has worked on more than 5,000 projects. Its portfolio includes the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Shanghai Bund, Little Island in New York and Tribute in Light.

The participation of both practices strengthens the Euroluce 2027 Forum’s focus on architectural lighting. Their work spans historic buildings, large-scale urban developments, public spaces and specialist lighting installations.

Euroluce will also address lighting control systems, materials research, energy use, sustainability, artificial intelligence and the increasing integration of lighting systems into building design.
